Product Review: L'Occitane En Provence Repairing Mask for Dry and Damaged Hair

To kick things off I am going to start with a product review of a product I recently purchased and had never tried before, so this review is also a first impressions review as well. The opinions expressed in this review are all my own. I am not paid or sponsored by any companies to review their products.

I am a new customer to L'Occitane En Provence. I became a fan of theirs' after a morning on the hunt for a birthday present for my Mum. I was really pleased with the customer service, I was offered a cup of tea upon my entering the boutique and exceptionally assisted by the employee who was more than happy to describe the products for me. Customer service really does make a difference. Even though the products of L'Occitane are more expensive than the products I buy for a day-to-day basis, the service and the quality of L'Occitane is welcoming and enticing, and it is always nice to have a few luxury items in your beauty cupboard, and I think the product I am reviewing should definitely fall in this category!

P.S. I bought my Mum the 'Vanille & Narcisse Eau De Toilette'. The scent is warming and sweet. There is a rich, pure vanilla base, which is what sold it for me because Vanilla is both mine and my Mum's favourite scent. The price is very reasonable considering the organic ingredients and its earthly fragrance. It is so hard to find a vanilla scent that isn't fabricated and artificial. This perfume is a clear winner for me.

The product which I bought myself was the 'Repairing Mask for Dry and Damaged Hair'. Due to the harsh stress I put my hair under on a constant basis, I rely on deep-conditioning treatments to literally stop my hair from falling out. I have tried many deep-conditioning treatments and have generally been happy with the results from all of them. The L'Occitane Repairing Mask was a clear stand-out product for me because unlike ALL the other deep-conditioning treatments I have tried, it didn't leave my hair feeling light (and easily knotted) after I had washed and dried it.

The product is easily distributed in medium-damp to wet hair, and the pores of your hair absorb the product well. Your hair begins to feel quite heavy, but this was quite satisfying for me as it meant the product was sinking into the hair follicles, rather than just coating the outer of them and washing off. After 5-10 minutes you wash out the product. I let my hair air-dry until it is almost completely dry, in an attempt to counteract some of the brutality I put it through during my daily styling. The mask leaves your hair feeling soft, smooth, manageable and most importantly, healthy.

The scent is quite romantic, and rosy. The floral scent is quite refreshening compared to all the 'oil' products in my shower at the moment. The mask does not contain parabens, SLES, sythetic colorants, formol or formaldehyde, animal ingredients, trislocan or BHA. Which is good for those of us with sensitive skin, and of course it is always better to avoid harsh chemicals on your hair/ body and stick to natural ingredients. I strongly recommend this product!

I am also a strong believer in animal rights. I am not always aware what brands do/ do not participate in animal testing/ using animal products, but this is definitely something I'd like to learn more about so I can make more consumer-consciuos decisions. I would love to hear your knowledge of this and any product/ brand recommendations you have for me.
