University Ball!

After being a little introvert last year, I encouraged myself to attend my school's ball a few weeks ago. I'm not going to lie, my main reason for buying the tickets was so I could buy a pretty dress and do really fancy hair and make-up... But all in all I had a good time! Here are some photos from the night

Dress: Sherri Hill
Shoes and Bag: Betts for Her
Earrings: Collette by Collette Hayman

My lovely date, who was sweet enough to let me talk him into wearing a pink tie to match my dress :)

We had some fun dressing up in the photo-booth :)

Here is a short description for my hair and makeup. If requested I can do video/ picture tutorials.

Hair: Using a hot curling iron I section my hair into 4 parts and made about 5 curls in each part. Then I added a lot of hair-spray to the ends, but not the top yet. I sectioned the centre-front part of my hair and teased the roots towards my skull to create a big of height. Then I pulled this section back and bobby-pinned it into place. Another coat of hairspray all over. Products used: Remington 3/4" Instant Curls Curling Iron and Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME Glorious Hold Hairspray

MakeUp:
1. Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer: a light base all over face, a little thicker on areas that are generally more oily such as t-zone and cheeks.

2. Clinique SuperBalanced Liquid Foundation in 02 Fair: Applied with finger tips and mini makeup sponges from the $2 shop because I couldn't find my Estee' Lauder Foundation Brush

3: The Body Shop Glow Enhancer: very lightly patted on the very top of my cheek-bones, above where blush would go, plus down nose shaft and on cupids-bow.

4: Estee' Lauder Signature Silky Powder Blush in 11 Nude Rose and 01 Gold Pearl, I blended these two colours with my Estee' Lauder Blush Brush and applied along my cheekbones.
5: Estee' Lauder Bronzer in 01 Bronze Godess, lightly dusted on temples and forehead.

6: Victoria Jackson Shimmer Powder Brush in Gold, VERY lightly on cheeks, then a bit heavier on decollate, shoulders, arms etc.

7: This step is tricky and not completely necessary to pull off this look. The Body Shop Roseflower Radiance Stick in 01. just apply this to apples of cheeks, over your blush, very carefully so as not to disturb the blush you have already applied. This is just for enhancing the apples of your cheeks, rather than creating a cheek-bone effect.

Now we get to the eyes:

8: Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue, all over eye-lids to create a base and help keep makeup in place.

9: Revlon Sheer Shadow Diamond Lust in Grab Me all over lid and to highlight inner corners of eyes and eyebrow-arch.

10: Maybelline Eye Studio 850 Smokey Black in a 'V' shape at the outer-edges of the eyes and along the crease.

10: Designer Brands Lavendar Haze Pallette, Darkest Purple, blending with the black shadow 'V'  and crease line, and also along the lower lid.
11: From the same DB palette, use any mix of the lighter shades of purple for a third dimension texture to your dark 'V' shape.

12: A thick coat of Kleancolour Eyeliner Precision Liquid Eyeliner in Blackest Black along top lash line. I extended up and out about 1cm to create a winged eye effect.

13: Curl eyelashes, then coat (top and bottom) with L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara in Black.

14: Optional: Apply your favourite fake lashes. I used Revlon Fantasy Lengths. Tip: when you apply the glue to the false lashes, wait until it is tacky and sticky to touch before pressing on your lash line. This will prevent mucky smudging after all your hard work! It is important that you wait for the lash glue to dry before applying another coat of mascara.

15: Use a black eyeliner pencil to fill in your waterline. I used Covergirl Queen Collection Vivid Impact Eyeliner in Midnight.

And finally to lips!!!

16: Line lips with Rimmel London Vinyl Jelly Gloss Lip Liner in Hot Spark

17: Revlon Lipstick in 30 Fuchsia

18: Natio Mineral Lip Gloss in Grape

Pack in your purse: Lipstick, lipgloss, pencil eyeliner, and a shimmer blush compact if you have room for touch ups during the night.
