My Morning Skin Care Routine

Mornings........ Sometimes they start at 5.30am for early morning lectures, sometimes I get to sleep in, or laze around the house and it's almost afternoon before I start my "morning" skincare routine. But here goes... Keep reading to see how I wake up my face and get it ready for the day :)

Step One. I like to begin by waking up my face and opening my pores with a hot face washer.

Step Two. I use a very gentle cleanser in the morning, since I take all my makeup off at night before I go to sleep, so a gentle soothing cleanser such as Jurlique Soothing Foaming Cleanser is perfect for making me feel fresh and clean without being too harsh.

Step Three. Toner. I choose toners to suit my skin's needs. I like People For Plants Mist Toner with rose otto, burdock, and kakadu plum, for it's hydrating and brightening properties. A toner prepares your face with an even base to soak in all the goodness of your serums and moisturisers.

Step Four. Aspect DR Active C Serum. This is quite an expensive serum, but it contains more concentrated ingredients than cheaper alternatives. Vitamin C is especially good for combatting sun-spots and pigmentation. I didn't even know I had pigmentation until I saw my skin under a UV light which showed me the damage that all my Summers at the beach had done. It was quite frightening, even to the dermatologist as I have no visible pigmentation without the UV light! Definitely something worth checking, or even investing in a good Vitamin C serum to break up existing pigmentation and preventing more. Remember use your treatment serums (whatever they may be for, or however many you use) after toner and before your moisturiser or day cream.

Step Five. The Body Shop Hemp Face Protector! My Saviour! Since you know I am prone to eczema, which often presents on my face, especially if I am trying out new makeup products, this heavy-duty moisturiser acts as a seal to my skin and protects it from any makeup, and possible reactions that could occur from their use. I use this all over my face and even around my eyes. Love this product!

Step Six.  A little luxury in the form of a $40 lip balm! Hello Dior Creme De Rose! A little of this goes a long way and is honestly the most luxurious, creamy balm you can give your lips. I also put this on at nights and wake up with beautifully kissable lips!

And that's it! This process takes me approximately five minutes and then I can begin my makeup. Check back soon for a night time skin care routine xxx
